KaijuBop Vol. 02: “IndepenDance”

Jakarta, 17 August 2022: KaijuBop, Indonesia and Southeast Asia’s first and finest cosplay (costume + play), music, and dance party series, has returned on Tuesday, 16 August 2022, at Bengkel Space, SCBD, Jakarta, in collaboration with DanceSignal, the largest dance scene media in Southeast Asia, and supported by InterStage by Pria Punya Selera.
“Kaiju” is a “strange beast or monster“, as depicted in sci-fi films, comic books, and video games. They no longer represent monsters from Japan, but it has gone global since their appearance in the Pacific Rim movies (Pacific Rim 1 in 2013, Pacific Rim 2: Uprising in 2018, and Pacific Rim: The Black in 2021). “Bop” is a contraction of “Bebop”, which means “dance to the music” or “good tunes”.
In summary, KaijuBop is a Dancing Monster Party. KaijuBop’s tagline immediately hits everyone’s mind and soul: “There’s a little monsta in every one of us that needs to be unleashed once in a while“.
KaijuBop’s Vol. 02: “IndepenDance” delivered an extraordinary experience that combined costume+play, music, and dance party with a red and white dress code in honor of Indonesia’s independence day.

Following the iconic and thrilling signature program: CosWalk on the Dance Floor competition, Daijobu Club‘s DJ Dion and Female DJ Kifurai performed as the opening act before the renowned cosplay DJ Throoper took the stage. He has been known for his exclusive mixes and remixes of anime-themed songs and soundtracks, transporting the audience into the vibrant world of fused anime with his electrifying EDM beats. His meticulously chosen tracks, combined with the vibes of the newly introduced Kaiju Friends (Ykln, Ave, Mine, and Hime), offered an immersive experience that energized and enthralled the dance floor.
CosWalk on The Dance Floor
The Cosplay Walk competition was held in the center of the stage, showcasing an incredible fusion of costume artwork, roleplay skills, and anime-themed and futuristic background visuals. Cosplayers dressed up as their favorite characters and performed incredible choreographed routines while flaunting their costumes. With a variety of categories and enticing prizes, participants captivated the audience with their creativity, dedication, attention to detail, and vibes.
The energy skyrocketed when Asia’s number one female DJ in Asia, DJ RayRay from Taiwan, took the stage for a riveting live performance following resident DJs, BNGKLOUD. She is known for her exceptional mixing abilities and infectious beats, and her dynamic set wowed the crowd. Her set was a genre mash-up, incorporating techno elements while paying tribute to the spirit of independence through her music.
DJ Akhda dominated the stage and conquered the crowd with his exceptional talent, combined with a curated techno beats playlist, pulsating beats, and contagious energy, creating an atmosphere of celebration and unity, leaving 1500+ attendees in a trance until the next morning to cap off KaijuBop’s Vol. 02: “IndepenDance”.
