KaijuBop Vol. 01: “The Awakening”
Elevating Costume+Play Party to New Heights

 

Jakarta, 15 May 2022: On Friday and Saturday, the 13th and 14th of May 2022, 1000+ people witnessed the birth of a remarkable phenomenon known as KaijuBop, Indonesia and Southeast Asia’s first and finest cosplay (costume + play), music, and dance party series.

 

KaijuBop’s Vol. 01: “The Awakening” was held at Bengkel Space in SCBD, South Jakarta, one of the legendary clubs in the heart of Jakarta’s central business districts, a premium hang-out and entertainment area.

 

“Kaiju” is a “strange beast or monster“, as depicted in sci-fi films, comic books, and video games. They no longer represent monsters from Japan, but it has gone global since their appearance in the Pacific Rim movies (Pacific Rim 1 in 2013, Pacific Rim 2: Uprising in 2018, and Pacific Rim: The Black in 2021). “Bop” is a contraction of “Bebop”, which means “dance to the music” or “good tunes”.

 

 

In summary, KaijuBop is a Dancing Monster Party.

KaijuBop’s tagline immediately hits everyone’s mind and soul: “There’s a little monsta in every one of us that needs to be unleashed once in a while“.

 

KaijuBop was a one-of-a-kind experience unlike any other, with a comprehensive program that included community gatherings, enthralling live performances, electrifying DJ sets with cinematic visuals, and a variety of unique and exclusive experiences. This innovative event has seamlessly fused cosplay, anime, manga, games, sci-fi movies, EDM and techno music, as well as dance enthusiasts while setting a new standard for entertainment in the industry and in the Southeast Asia region.

 

 

 

Community Gathering
KaijuBop Vol. 01 began with a community gathering in one of Indonesia’s legendary dance clubs with a Samurai-themed interior, bringing together cosplay, anime, manga, games, and toys enthusiasts. Everyone who came had the opportunity to immerse themselves in the vibrant worlds of their favorite series and characters.

 

Live Performance by Idol Group
One of the highlights of KaijuBop Vol. 01 was the debut of Cerise, an idol group from Indonesia that is ready to make its mark again on the industry. The audience was captivated by their impeccable vocals, mesmerizing dance routines, and infectious energy. Cerise set the stage on fire and left a lasting impression with their talent and stage presence, adding an extra layer of excitement to the event.

 

CosWalk on The Dance Floor
The Cosplay Walk competition was held in the center of the stage, showcasing an incredible fusion of costume artwork, roleplay skills, and anime-themed and futuristic background visuals. Cosplayers dressed up as their favorite characters and performed incredible choreographed routines while flaunting their costumes. With a variety of categories and enticing prizes, participants captivated the audience with their creativity, dedication, attention to detail, and vibes.

Resident and guest DJ performances
As the night progressed, the renowned cosplay DJs, DJ Throoper and DJ G-Black, took over the stage and accompanied by KaijuFriends, mesmerizing the crowd with their exclusive mixes and remixes of anime-themed songs and soundtracks fused with pulsating EDM beats. Their seamless transitions and carefully selected tracks created an immersive experience that transported attendees into the heart of their favorite anime worlds.

 

Adding to the excitement, famous female DJ Apsara took the stage, infusing the event with her unique brand of techno music. Her high-energy performance and dynamic stage presence kept the crowd on their feet, showcasing the versatility of the event in catering to different musical tastes.

To round out KaijuBop Vol. 01 with a bang, the resident DJs known as BNGKLOUD took over the stage, leaving the attendees craving more. Their infectious beats and electrifying mixes set the dance floor ablaze, ensuring that the event concluded with unforgettable memories.
